Libraries and Social Media

The following are some library run social media accounts that I've been following during this course.

Copyright and Social Media

It's so important when interacting on social media to be aware of different copyright standards.

Here is a pretty comprehensive article covering it.

What would Jane Austen do?

Here are a couple of interesting articles discussing social media etiquette, which is so important. Especially considering that once you post something online, it's there forever. FOREVER.

Procrastination

Cold and rainy today. My favourite kind of weather. ^_^

I'm hoping to start volunteering at the public library near me in the near future. I just have to hear back on a job application before I commit too many (conflicting) hours.

I'm also hoping to take Acquisitions Two next Semester. It's usually a Diploma subject, but I thoroughly enjoyed Acquisitions One and seeing as it doesn't conflict with any other classes and Paula said she was more than happy for me to, it makes good sense to me to get it out of the way while I have the time.

Ah, back to the competency tasks I have to finish...

A visit to the archives

So, yesterday some of us went to the Victorian Archives Centre. We saw some criminal records dating back to the 1840s, among other things.

Here is a list of their online exhibitions - I've been looking through them this morning and there's some fantastic history in there.

The next tour date is on Monday the 14th of April in case anyone is interested.

Odds & Ends

I'm really looking forward to visiting the Victorian Archives Centre tomorrow.

Er, what else? I've been volunteering for the MICF (Melbourne International Comedy Festival), which has been good fun.

I've set up my Facebook account for the class. You can find me on there as Chloe Li Brary. ^_^
